my 13 yr old completed his math. He was doing an online math program. He started it in January and has already completed his level! It was a generic 7th grade math. (nothing specific, little bit of everything). They have a little pie chart that the kids fill different slices (like a multiplication slice, algebra slice, geometry slice, etc) and have assessment tests. His pie is full. I'm not sure if they will do a final assesment or not.
The pie slices get filled when he's mastered a concept. so I guess I can give him an A since he filled the entire pie!
Gavin is getting pretty close, but is stuck and Brian needs to help him. He forgot to last night. I wonder what would happen if we had them in Public school, Brian is always too busy or forgets to help them when they ask (Say "In a little bit......." until it's bedtime)
Ki is.. well. he's Ki. He's great in acting, theater, bible, history..... but not reading and math.
No more Lesson plans to write. No more tests to grade. No longer are my boys my homeschool students. I am changing out of my homeschool hat into my personal hobbies hat. Gardening, fitness, photography, part time employment.

One Hundred Fouteen
Gavin did some reading this morning about the Econimic Stimulus Plan. I emailed some links to him. I knew he'd enjoy reading about how much money the government has, is in debt, plnas to give total, to just our family and all those other number facts.
Gavin wants to learn about Economics when we start school this fall, so I thought it's be a good little head start to send him a couple emails with interesting links like that.
Connor's aleks math lessons are 98% complete! They just had him start another assesment test. Hopefully it's won't set him back. Every now and then, after an assesment test they will loose a tiny bit of a pie slice.
Ki is enjoying his acting class, but I need to help him with his lines this week. He has a second script now. I need to find out when he is performing. Maybe grandparents can come see him. He'd like that.
Still no word on Brian's Orders. We'll be here till he gets them. And it's very up in the air when he'll get his orders.
*(this is post # 114- hence the post title)

Best Laid Plans
AH-h-h-h-h-h.... NICE! I have the basic plans laid for school. I let the boys choose their science, social studies and Bible; which was a math choice for Gavin, since he choose Physics for Science (I didn't even suggest that one).
SO here is what I have so far. I will add online research and projects to these. ACE [Accelerated Christian Education] are self paced workbooks. We've never tried them, but I figured for a couple subjects they might be OK.
GAVIN (9th grade 08/09)
Science:Physics [Apologia CD course]
Math: Trig [Aleks Online] *Lessons from dad
Social Studies: Economics [A.C.E.] AND Ben'sGov [online]
Bible: Life of Christ [A.C.E.]
History: Story of the World and WW1&2 reading
Language Arts: Eclectic [Spectrum Writing, NanoFictionary, Reading, etc]
CONNOR (8th grade 08/09)
Science: Geology [online, research, projects, I'll pull a bunch of stuff together]
Math: Middle School 3 course [Aleks Online] Lessons from dad
Social Studies: Civics [A.C.E.] AND Ben'sGov [online]
Bible: Christian Growth [A.C.E.]
History: Story of the World and WW1&2 reading
Language Arts: Eclectic [Spectrum Writing, NanoFictionary, Reading, etc]
Ki David (6th grade 08/09)
Science: Zoology [online, research, projects, I'll pull a bunch of stuff together]
Math: Middle School 1 course [Aleks Online] Froggy Fractions and Froggy Decimals [Ki chose the Froggy Math] Lessons with dad
Social Studies:6th Grade Social Studies [A.C.E.] AND Ben'sGov [online]
Bible: Introduction to Missions [A.C.E.]
History: Story of the World and WW1&2 reading
Language Arts: Eclectic [Spectrum Writing, NanoFictionary, Reading, etc]
** That is the plan. We (all 5 of us) decided to try something a little different this upcoming school year. I still have to buy stuff. need todecide if I want to buy them now or wait till he move.
We'll do lots of hands on projects & independant research and fun stuff, too.
